    HI All -

I turned off the beeping function when the car is in reverse by reading about it on this forum. I've forgotten the poster's name, but a big thank you for the tip.

My question is What other tips are there that provide more useful choices for the owner? Someone suggested that there is a list of dealer adjustable settings, including one to increase the light intensity of the steering wheel lights at night. Does anyone have such a list, or is it available in another section of the forum?

    Thanks for the help.

could you forward the instruction how to switch off the beep to me, I only joined the forum.
Furthermore have you come accross a message dealing with the dispaly brightness, to me it's way too bright during darkness.
    Thanks

If you click the Search button above, and enter "disable reverse beep" you can find the steps.

Here's another thread (found using Search) that has lots of other interesting tips:

Have you read your Owner's Manual regarding the dimmer switch on the lower panel left of the steering wheel? This dims both the speedometer panel and NAV screen.

Assuming you mean the MFD, there's a dimming control to the left of the steering wheel. You'll have to look for it. It's rotates in the vertical direction.

When the headlights are on, it controls the speedometer, etc. and the MFD.

On the 2006, the dimmer knob only affects the speedometer display. The MFD is adjusted by use of its "Display" button. You get to set brightness and contrast for both the Day and Night modes. (In the Day mode, the settings adjust the Day brightness and contrast; at night, they adjust the Night mode.)

When the headlights are on, the MFD flips to Night mode. If you then turn the dimmer full up (e.g. at dusk when it isn't very dark), the MFD will flip to day mode. When you dim again, the MFD reverts to night.

The steering wheel illumination is at a constant level and does not change with dimmer settings. There is no known dealer adjustment for this.

I wish the "night mode" was automatic, I leave my headlights on all the time and I wish they had an additionl sensor to detect ambient light.

The intensity of the steering wheel lighting is not adjustable by the driver, but I've heard that the dealership may be able to do that for you(?)

You are incorrect the dealer can adjust the lights of the steering wheel and window controls with the Toyota Prius scan tool.

I'll be looking into this. Thanks.

What about the MFD coming on bright at night? It takes over 5 minutes for the display intensity to automagically drop down to the setting on the bar. Yes, you can override this each time you drive off at night but that's a pain and not what that feature was for. The MFD should dim immediately to the desired setting when the lights are turned on. Any way to _fix_ this? Toyota of course says "no". Thanks.

It should dim immediately. I'm not sure why it takes 5 mins....
