I have noticed that my local dealer and others across the SE are now charging $1500 above MSRP for 2010 Prius V models. I was considering buying one, but now with this extra charge I'll wait until the C4C program is over!

Anybody not doing the C4C would be smart to wait until it's over.

I agree, if you are not a CFC buyer, negotiate the premium out or wait until the program is over.

It could be worse. When I was doing my research, I looked at Ford Fusion Hybrids. I found one local dealer charging a $6,300 premium for their Hybrids. I liked the Ford display system, liked the way the car drove, but I didn't like the seats and the premium would be a deal-breaker no matter how much I liked the car. --TK

Leave it to the SET to gouge you even more. The V already has a significantly larger markup. To pick out one model and do this truly is greed. I'd have to get the Lexus 250h before I'd do that.

You can go with the Ford X Plan and get it below MSRP...

I started to buy a Fusion 502A but was glad to get a Prius V instead. One dealbreaker was headroom getting in and out in the rear.

    Go Someplace Else.

You're so close to the SET border, go someplace else. SET jabbs their dealers for an extra $750 fee that's not charged elsewhere in the US. I came close to buying my Gen III in Chicago, but my South Florida dealer finally agreed to deliver mine at the agreed MSRP price.

A certain dealer in NJ that I am not at liberty to mention charges 6500 over sticker and calls it fair market value adjustment. luckily I found another one close by with better morals. They are charging sticker price and not a penny more.

I guess then I would be at liberty to mention the fowl practices of a toyota stealership that takes the liberty of stealing the money granted to you from the government for them selves. lol As the name may imply Liberty Toyota feels they deserve the government cash for clunkers more than you do. If you call them on it they will not budge.

On a side note the Volkswagen dealership in Burlington NJ is doing the same thing for Jetta TDI. I was looking at one when I saw the fine print on the sticker (hand written)

I am taking my clunker elsewhere.
