Was looking at the scangauge II last night and found that there is also a turbogauge III which seems to do much the same thing but also has a data logger and costs a little less. Has anyone used a turbogauge on a gen3 and able to give some review / feedback?

No XGAUGE like facility, so none of the Prius specific data is available. It is obviously designed to compete with the scangauge. With the USB computer connection, maybe a future software upgrade will include XGAUGE or something similar.

As if it will ever have an update..... It's made by a fly by night Chinese company and is a clone of the real SGII. Looking at a youtube video of it in action, it looks so similar to the SGII I'm sure they stole the firmware code, then made some minor tweaks.

    Shameful...

If they'd copied the firmware, it would support XGAUGE. They copied the idea and general design, but omitted the part that would make it useful on a Prius.

I did email them to ask if there was an xgauge like feature in the pipeline but have had no response. Looks like the extra for a scangauge II is a must.

The Turbogauge appears to be a UK product that is being actively developed. The USB interface will allow transfer of data between the unit and a PC. So firmware upgrades will be possible without sending the unit back for service. And datalogging is potentially available in the future.

I think this device warrants watching. ScanGauge has a number of limitations that could be overcome with the Turbogauge.

Both units need additional work to support multi-frame CAN messages and Toyota style KWP messages. The XGAUGE facility is useful, but could be much more useful if extended.

I did a little googling and the TurboGauge II appears to be made in China by a Chinese company ... and the guys at Linear Logic confirmed it's a knockoff of another defunct ScanGauge knockoff. The initial knockoff was extremely sensitive to heat and would die and there was essentially no support from the maker.

The menus on the TurboGauge II are almost identical to the SGII -- like it's a copy of an older pre-xgauge firmware. Also doesn't appear to have Hybrid as a fuel type either. There are some differences but the base code is likely a direct copy.

A little more googling turns up that the TurboGauge is a product of Shenzhen Leagend Optoelectronics Co. in Shenzhen, China. Their website is Welcome to Leagend: Easier OBD II Diagnostics, Smarter Gauge .

If you order 500+ units, you can have your own brand name printed on the device and documentation. Standby for a few more units that look quite similar...

I still like the USB interface for upgrades and datalogging. If they'll add Toyota style KWP and XGAUGE support, they could have a real winner. Until then, ScanGauge is a better choice for the Prius.

On that website they have a turbogauge III but the spec is the same as the turbogauge II from what I can make out.

I bought my SC II from Auto Anything for only $135 with free shipping. I have 3 of them in my cars. A great deal so no need to buy a cheap copy IMO. :D

    Okay
Turbogauge the $90 knock off as it applies to 2nd Gen Prius save your money because "turbogauge" is of poor quality. First off if any1 has a support contact, phone, email, and or other resource for "turbogauge" let me know ...... The setup is easy just like SG2 but that is about it. The "turbo" will not stay "functioning" while you drive for some unknown reason and therefore is horrible compared to SG2,
    following things blow for "turbogauge
--no mpg screen avg or current
    --no x gauge function
--some functions do not work on "prius"
---no vin and you get crap nobody wants.

Ultragauge! Right price, looks better, matches the dash color perfectly. Plus the price is right.
