Just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone using a Scangauge II on thier Prius. On a 2012 Chevy Volt, it causes the car to die! It also kills the 2012 Chevy Cruse and others. I had a Prius and used the Scangauge every day. Got a Volt plugged in the Scangauge II to reset two codes, and got four more plus a car that wouldn't turn off or go anywhere. The mechanic and I are starting to become good friends...

From your description it sounds like your Volt is doing a good job by itself. What are the 6 codes?

From your experience it doesn't sound like GM or Mr. Goodwrench has changed.

Very wierd. Clearly a scangage issue.. I use an OBDII device (+ torque) on my Volt almost every day and never had a problem and neither did the many users of DasDaq and about a dozen other volts using generic OBDII devices. Did you use the connector by the driver door or on the passenger side? We know the volt uses 2 different Canbuses.. and OBDII devices should be by the driver.. We also know it uses a lot of the bus bandwidth (about 75% of the time the bus is busy, so if it just locked up the bus or a bit that alone would cause a major problem.

What vehicle Did you tell your scan gage you were using?
What were the codes (I have full maintenance manual and can decode them).

Edit: good discussion (same OP I think) at
    DEAD VOLT II

Seems to be a scangage issue.. probably not behaving well on the more loaded bus or not following GM's specific protocols. Also may not be able to "reset" non-standard DTC (the EVSE ones are not yet standard), and who knows what it did to the car when it "reset" something it did not understand.

Drinnovation, do you have any more PIDS to share? So far I only have battery SOC (thanx to you :), but I wouldn't mind looking at Amps draw.

Sorry no.. been too busy to do any more hunting.. I've spend dozens of hours looking for those.. now I have a different plan (more automated) but it may be a few months before I get to them.

I leave the first generation Scangauge hooked up to my 2011 Volt and have not had any problems. (MPG, voltage, ICE temp, RPMs are only what I can see on this first generation).

    +1
I've never had a problem, but comments for those that did only had good reviews of their support. One individual actually was directly contacted by Linear Logic's President or vp.

Did you ever discover any more PIDs for the Volt?
