I owned a Matrix for 9 years, and vowed that when replacing it, I would like a hybrid version. Well, the Matrix was totalled by multiple strikes from behind, at a stoplight, and I found I could not afford the Lexus hybrid version, the Prius C was too small, the V too big, and so I took over my wife's 2007 Prius, while she got a new Corolla. Then, I see the Auris... Too bad we're in the US, as it's supposedly built on the Corolla package, as were the Matrix, Vibe, and Voltra.
Well we'll see what the fate of the Matrix is. The Auris isn't a bad package if they want to continue offering a hatchback to compete against the Focus, 3 and Elantra. The Civic is doing fine without a hatchback. Toyota's plan of attack would probably be an Auris Hybrid rather than a sport version to compete with the Focus ST or MazdaSpeed3.
Little underwhelmed by the 2014 Corolla compared to the competitors out there. Still bland compared to the others. I personally seen Corolla type cars in other countries that have style. Sort of like the Prius C is better elsewhere.
