Ok I want to pick your brains. Which is best? Is XM better than Sirrius?Has anyone put them in and can I see some pictures of them? Tired of searching for nice smooth jazz stations while I am on the road. Also our town has 5 count em 5 country stations and not one smooth jazz.

First off, there's nothing high-def about digital radio. It's just digital, that's all. It's still commercial terrestrial radio, just like what you're getting currently with analog commercial terrestrial radio stations. I love satellite radio. I've had XM for 6 years, but I don't think it matters. Get whatever you want. Just having one set of stations nationwide, the music stations without commercials, is wonderful.
Sign up for the free online trials for XM and Sirius and decide yourself which you like best. In another year, it may not matter (proposed merger). I have not listened to terrestrial radio since installing Sirius radio receivers in all my cars. I just cannot stand listening to commercials now.
I have stock in both. They're both great, but the stock isn't doing the best right now. So ... subdcribe away NOW! (-:
I had xm and sirius, prefer sirius because a few stations they have vs xm but the other poster had a great idea, listen to them online first. I bought my Sirius from factoryinteractive, very easy to install. I then placed the antenna under my sharkfin antenna and routed the wire through the rear hatch and up around the seal. Good luck.

Now, you're limited to the range of the stations in your area naturally, but since the average person doesn't travel outside their home city 90% of the time that's not a big deal. HD stations very often do not play commercials on their multicasting stations, so if you're listening to a HD2 or an HD3 station you may not hear a commercial all day. It's up to the individual station. The other pro is that there's no monthly fee. I have Sirius, HD Radio, iPod, + the standard stuff and I regualarly switch between the Sirius and HD the most. The iPod a close third.
As an XM user I can't compare XM to Sirius, nor can I compare it to HD. I can say that an integrated XM unit is as good as a CD, IMHO. I used to have an FM modulated unit in the car whose sound was only as good as any FM station, not surprisingly. As a jazz fan I can tell you that XM has several options: Watercolors (smooth jazz), Real Jazz (classic) and Beyond Jazz (contemporary, upbeat, fusion) for starters. "Jazz-like" channels include Bluesville (self-explanatory) and High Standards (formerly Frank's Place [for Sinatra] -- big band, crooners).
