I'd go to consumer reports or the federal safety orgs. It is around 2,900 lbs and not a small car...it's rated as a midsize car if I remember correctly.
I have been driving mine for 9 months now and I'm still alive, not even injured. Well that is my test results.
The Prius gets very good safety ratings, especially with side airbags and VSC. It's poorest rating is for rear impact, which is still good, but testers think the Prius could have better head restraints. Tom
Safety ratings are very easy to find with a simple Google search. Safecar.gov You also shouldn't judge safety solely on crash test ratings. A small car which is more nimble and has shorter braking distances will help you avoid accidents more easily than a large, heavy truck. So while you might be less prone to injury while getting hit by a Miata when you are in a Suburban, you are less likely to get into an accident is a car, thus more safe.
