I have a 2015 blizzard pearl prius 3 and this is my first major mod. Even though the stock halogen projectors were pretty good with plug and play H11 HIDs, I wanted my headlights to be even better. I originally wanted to go with the morimoto D2S 4.0s with shield mod but my retrofitter said it would be hard to make it fit. I then said ok, how about the G5-Rs? They said still similar bolt pattern to the D2S. They suggested the RX350s which I already knew would be a bolt on for our cars. I did my research on those a while back and they were just ok on video. But I thought maybe it's just the camera isn't catching the true output. So I went ahead and went with those.

Couple weeks went by and I finally got them back. Installed it and it just did not live up to my expectations. Compared to other cars on the road with oem hids, it seemed very dim. I was expecting a glob of lit road 40-50ft in front of me but that wasn't the case. Maybe I was expecting too much out of this projector? I even went out and got 50w ballast and it's barely brighter. Honestly, this has a better cutoff and color but I think my stock headlights were brighter.

They look good and bright off the wall and in dark areas with light colored roads but it seems dim while driving with city lights. I won't name my retrofitter but they are highly respected pros and I don't doubt their work. I aimed the lights at 25ft, left side of step 2 inches below the center height of headlights. Spent a ton of money and I'm not happy. Maybe it's something i'm doing wrong?

Mods: RX350 bixenons tuned with STI-R clear lense, Morimoto xb35/55w ballast, Philips White Vision D2S bulbs, Morimoto HD relay harness.

I have the same set up as you except I am using osram cbi/clear lens/tuning etc as like you I wasn't exactly blown away with this set up either. It's nice and all but I may have expected too much. I also just noticed ur in san leandro not far from me. I'm currently in newark

& I had in mind to upgrade my h11 hid's to exactly what you have now....
right now I'm running xenondepot h11s with fast 70w ballasts (coming from morimoto h11s with 35/50w ballasts).
they're bright bright, didn't burn my projectors yet after one year & I never got the hi-beams yet from oncoming traffic.
well, guess no 'upgrade' for me..../.

OP, they look great to me. Nice, sharp cutoff.

Maybe you will benefit from a set of projector foglights with higher contrast (2500K bulbs) in them. I like how they fill in the illumination directly in front of the vehicle and stay below the lowbeam cutoffs. I especially like the contrast when it is rainy and the roads are wet, gives you a much better view of road hazards like potholes in those situations.

I know who did those cause I sent mine to them too. Honestly to me they look perfectly fine in terms of output the hotspot is pretty strong

I’ve been waiting to do RX350 retrofit for the longest time, trying to save up money for them. Once I had enough I started to have second thought. Instead I purchased just the clear lens to swap with OEM project. My light output with 55W HID 55K is satisfying but wouldn’t hurt to slight improve. I feel at ease now thanks ksaepharn!
