I'm trying to set up a dash cam connected to a cam set up in the back, and both are haphazardly set up linked by long wires. Any ideas if I can somehow open the roof of the car and run the wire through? Any guides on this or possible info? Any alternatives or better suggestions are also welcome
Assuming you don't have a sun roof fitted, you can use electricians rods to feed the cable from the rear to the front. As always, the manufacturer won't like you doing this and that includes lifting trim panels etc to route a cable that way. As mentioned in another thread, I prefer a telephoto lens attached to my front camera. Nextbase 622.
Best to just pay people that do that kind of stuff for a living. They will invariably know what might get torn up (or not) while running / snaking stuff through the headliner. If they screw up they have to pay for it. Do it yourself and you own the risk. So it depends on which risk you want to pay for.
I had a dashcam with a rear camera installed recently, and all they had to do was pry the inside liner enough to run the wires.
this ^^ Without knowing ..... everybody else is just throwing out stuff irrelevant about their own car ~ rather than the OPs
