I have looked through the various forums, but cannot find my specific question referenced… I have a 2010 Prius II that I purchased on July 21, 2010… Sometimes at lunch, I will go out to the parking lot, put the car in ready mode, put on the A/C, and take a little nap to get rid of the occasional tiredness I get from a medication I am taking… As one would expect, the engine comes on and runs to keep the battery above two bars… I noticed the other day that when the car is shutting down the engine, (red arrows stop flowing) instead of the engine just stopping like when you would turn a key off, if takes 5-10 seconds to “stumble†to a stop… Is this normal ? One Final question… is the engine still spinning even when it is not really running? Or does something disconnect the engine from the driveline? Thanks, Dan
Yes, it's ok and has happened to other people. Seems to happen when the engine is still a bit cold but others have experienced it and there are threads about it but I don't have the time right now to find one of them. Nonetheless, not a big deal IMO so enjoy your Prius The engine is not spinning when it is running on battery.
