I’ve seen this question asked in different forms but nothing specific to the v. Is it possible to put a rooftop tent on a Prius v? And with my moonroof get in the way?

You can put a roof rack on a v, you can put a slab on the rack for a floor, and you can put a tent on the slab, but how much total load on the rack and v roof will be the issue.

The short answer is NO; roof rack limitation is somewhere around 100 lbs. A properly done rooftop tent system is usually on pickup trucks; with a heavily modified, roll-cage style rack to support the extra weight of tent and occupants.

I have a 2012 Prius V and I was thinking about taking out my back seats and building a platform with panels that open towards either back door. I could then put in an air mattress and car camp. I could store stuff under the platform in the back seat if I wanted. Thus leaving the car on all night I would have a temperature controlled sleeping area. There are also small tear drop trailers that a Prius V might be able to handle. Its hard to void a warranty that has already expired...

Get the car windows ceramic tinted. Everything behind the drivers door 'limo tint'; then the lightest tint you can find for the front doors. Ceramic tint has a very high heat rejection rate and it'll keep the inside cool. Make sure you can access your spare tire; if you need to - without ripping the car apart.
There's a lot of YT videos on how to setup your Prius camper

    Good Luck
