Dear Digest, Bouncing around Los Angeles and Inland Empire the last week, searing in summertime sunburn suffering, always with the effing Bluetooth issues! Reboot the damned phone! Reboot the damned car! Damned fusion center spooks, with their newfangled stingrays, eavesdropping on our cell phone conversations! Government surveillance here in America's so bad, it's safer operating our handhelds while driving, by hand. Try it again -- reboot the phone, reboot the car; reboot the car, reboot the phone -- begrudgingly, finally it decides to connect... When suddenly, something chimes - a chime I've never heard before? The readout on the info screen shows outside temperature, 72 Fahrenheit? Suddenly, poof-gone, no A/C? Something having electronically scrambled the main computer, the principal thermometer regulating all those on-board computers, temperature readout on the info screen 40 degrees cooler than it really was, somehow crashed my climate control. Driving around L.A, hottest day of the year, 104 Fahrenheit, no A/C, Arrrgh! Pain-pain-pain! The golden rule, never let 'um see you sweat? So much for that! Three piece suit 'n tie, I arrived at my appointment soaked in perspiration; gave me a headache I'm still loathe to shake. Two hours later, venturing back across the parking lot, to my astonishment I discovered, the car's running? It somehow restarted? All by itself? No key; no fob? Inexplicably, the A/C blowing cold? Somehow, it fixed itself? I need structure. I need reassurance my '04 Ruthiemobile hasn't become self-aware, that isn't incipient to annihilating our wonderful consumerist wasteland, and repopulating planet Earth with hybrid cyborg Toyotas. Samuel, '04 Ruthiemobile
Following for any info as my 04 decided that at 98deg in Portland AC wasn't needed ,it started normally and made it about a mile and started blowing warm air (auto AC and recirc showing on dash) I open the window and it starts blowing cold I close windows and make it another mile and back to warm opening windows again (folks in traffic probably thinking I'm crazy) at this point it shut off by itself only recirc showing on dash thought maybe it was a battery SOC issue as I thought I felt ICE coming on and off more than normal and looking at screen only 3 bars on battery so just left it off . 12 miles later tried again and it worked just fine (outside temp 95) drove rest of commute of 14 miles in bliss. Next day at work scanned all system no codes in any system. 98 again on way home and same issue tried adjust temp from full hot back to cold as I was starting to think it was a temp blend door issue ,it helped briefly blowing cold for about a minute then hot air with nothing wierd showing on HVAC screen .so shut it off and opened windows .traffic jamb at halfway point of commute home so turned AC on manually second fan speed( not auto AC on steering wheel ) and it worked all the way home again . No idea at this point ,another issue not sure if related is smart entry stops working when car is hot also ,had to open doors with fob button and put in slot to start wierd stuff maybe someone can enlighten us SM-G960U ?
Check 12v! Also, your car doesn’t have to become self-aware; Data could flow from the internet on your phone, through Bluetooth, and all the car’s networks are connected... if the internet became self aware it could probably do lots of fun stuff with cars becoming more and more ‘online’. If the problem(s) recur it would be worth getting techstream to read the sub-codes; I haven’t looked on mine, but the A/C may have a window on one of the parts where you can see the fluid moving, and they can be helpful if there is an issue such as a slow coolant leak;
The feverish attempt of planet Earth to eliminate its parasitic infestation of humans is proceeding on course. As we technologically advance, so does our susceptibility to inconvenience and eventually an early death. All according to plan...
