reversing/back up[?] lights

    I have searched here but cant find much info on this. [maybe I am using the wrong term, in the UK thay are called reversing lights:D]

    what is the general consensus about how well the the reversing lights function? do people find they are bright enough?

    it is getting very dark in the morning here now, and they dont seem to be throwing that much light.

    I have read that an LED "upgrade" doesnt work so well because the reflector is not designed for the LED light pattern?

    Mine work fine. I use the backup camera, and it is very light sensitive. When combined with the backup (reversing) lights, I can see in back very well.

    The stock backup lights are ineffectual. (Unless you have a backup camera)

    No.

    Backup lights don't need a precise pattern. The problem with a LED upgrade is that there is no good way to get in there to stuff it with LEDs. I'm not familiar with an LED bulb that it skinny enough to fit in the hole and powerful enough to want.


    I've been looking over the back of my car and am having trouble finding a good place where I can install lights. I've considered:

    Make holes in bumper cover, seat them in there.
    Hang under bumper.
    mount some kind of stock light on top of bumper
    lights glued up against rear window from inside.
    LED strip light running along bumper or hatch cover.

    Still don't know what I'm going to do.
