    I have a 2010, 180k ish.

I recently decided to crack open my battery cooling fan since I’ve noticed a sharp decline in my average mpgs. Went from averaging 51mpgs to 38.

I discovered that my border collie has been depositing his spare fur in there over the past 7 years and the poor thing was definitely choked out. Anyway, would it make sense to reset the computer after this to reset the learned battery usage behavior or just let it ride?

also, unrelated… or maybe related??? I noticed last night that there is definitely some current flowing through my passenger seat. I was driving home from work and draped my right arm across the passenger seat and felt the unmistakable sensation of electricity flowing into my arm?? Any ideas what this could be and how concerned I should be about it?

I believe the JBL amplifier is under there. Although, if you have a Two, then you won't have the JBL audio system.

I mean, flowing electricity should always be a concern. There's no power passenger seat and you won't have heated seats (unless it was added aftermarket) so I'm not sure what would be flowing through there.

If your HD battery is not isolated you can have more voltage than you want flowing through the frame of the car That's the battery isolation fault I've never felt it at my seat but I've touched the battery in the back and felt voltage coming through a non-isolated battery. So that's possibly a thing I wouldn't think you're 12 volt would be doing any such thing It's grounded to the frame of your car anyway The hybrid battery is not really done like that It's isolated sounds like it's not at the moment but the battery fan being clogged up like that from the border Collie how many years has it been clogged and running a lot trying to cool that very hot battery that heat cycling will damage the battery individual modules cause them to leak which can lead to the HV isolation fault while you have that area opened up and accessed might be smart to pull the silver cover off the battery with the orange plug out and run some tests they're all on YouTube and they're all here The down and dirty battery isolation quick test basic DC voltmeter will tell you quickly if your battery is not isolated You can take it to places that have meggers and all that but you're paying for that You can figure this out in the driveway relatively quickly then you can go to the shop with all the fancy equipment and play the games if you like.

I wonder if that unmistakable sensation could somehow be a mistakable one. I'm drawing a blank on any way that a Prius could put detectable current through your arm draped over the passenger seat.

On the other hand, a voltmeter could settle the question pretty quick.

    I don’t think so.
