Replacing the rear window wiper.

That tiny wiper isn't carried by most car parts outlets. Of course, you can head down to your friendly (greedy?) Toyota dealer and simply buy one. $20.00+ or so from the dealers near where I live. Ouch!

So I went on line, and found an Ohio dealer who would sell one for $11.00, including shipping.. Great. I bought it.

When it came, all I found was the rubber wiper itself. No frame or metal reinforcing strips. OK. How to get it in? The old one came out with a bit of pulling and tearing, as it was falling apart on its own, without any help from me. I was not wanting to tear the new one, and it just didn't want to go back in. Hmmm. Then I remembered an old trick I hadn't needed to use for decades. I coated the new wiper with dish soap, inserted the reinforcing strips, and wiggled it back into place. Good as new!

BTW, use dish soap, not oil. Oil will rot the rubber.
