    Is it possible to have the dealer change my HV battery pack early (...say before 100,000mi) ? Currently, my car has over 70,000 miles. I know that the HV warranty for Gen. 1 Prius is 100,000 mi. So I'm wondering if they will do it as a courtesy or will they replace it only when there is something wrong with the HV battery?

    doesn't hurt to ask, but isn't it 8 years 100,000 miles whichever comes first?

    You are asking for a courtesy valued at $3K so if there are no warning lights, nothing will be done to your car. However if you wish to waste your time, go ahead and ask.

    What do you honestly think? Seriously?

    They're not going to replace an item on a ten year old car if it's not faulty and its out of warranty.

    Its just a thought! If its out of warranty, then I guess I'll have to go with reinvolt. I have a local mechanic that is a licensed installer for them.

    I think it depends on the State you live in. Some it's 8 years 100k miles and then California is 150k miles but not sure if it's 8 years or 10 years.

    I'm sure if you want to pay for it, they'll be happy to change it out.

    :eek::eek::eek: Seriously???

    What you are asking is like your boss wanting you to do 1-2months of your work over again and you don't get paid for it. a WARRANTY, is in case the item screw up and doesn't function like it should...

    Its sorta like working Americans. When we start a new job, the employer is thinking sorta like you are providing them with a warranty. Meaning, you will show up for work everyday and on time. You will do your work to meet their standards...
