I have a star fracture on my passenger side windsheild which is slowly growing. I have full glass coverage with my car insurance but I am concerned about them replacing the exact part.

My 2006 Prius has built in GPS and was wondering where is the antenna located? Is it near the rearview mirror?

GPS antenna is located on the dash.

I'm fairly certain that in most states you have the right to demand that insurance work be done by a shop you approve using parts that you approve of. Most glass specialists use 3rd party glass suppliers, but if you push the right buttons they will get Toyota replacement glass.

However, this also means that your insurance company may not cover 100% or whatever the agreed upon coverage is. They may fall back on an "out of plan" coverage amount which will be much less than what they would have paid if you had just let them make all the decisions.

    Good luck.

As far as I know, there isn't any non-OEM glass available for the 2006. The construction company who didn't have their load covered paid a pretty penny ($1300) to have mine replaced!

:( On my 260-mile drive home from my purchase of our '04, I had a highway stone windshield hit from a gravel truck. Unfortunately, it was a "twin-star" crack therefore unrepairable with the silicone treatment. I insisted on OEM "Toyota brand" glass to preserve the original Prius. My insurance glass coverage covered all but $50.00. The overall charge was ~$650.00 and the job was completed in ~40 minutes. No rattles, no leaks, no cracks. PPG replacement windshields were also available locally and would likely have been fine... I just preferred the original. The cost to me would have been the same in either case.

In my case, the OEM glass (or the PPG) was available locally (Dallas TX)... just an overnight wait for it to be delivered to the glass company.
