We need to replace the trunk seal / weatherstrip on our 2001 Prius. Toyota no longer makes the part. I can't find any deadstock, third-party, or used online that aren't sold out. Suggestions?

Lots of suggestions Go look at other Toyotas like an echo with a trunk and see what you got I had to do this on old Corollas many times like '70s models SR5s and whatnot and what I used to do is go to another like similar made Toyota with a trunk has the same lip sticking up when you remove the trunk seal You have that what is it almost a half inch lip sticking up that the seal has an internal metal channel inside the rubber that drops on that channel and if one desires you can squeeze on it with a pair of hand tongs and the seal grabs that ridge pretty tightly or you don't You can just drop it on there and go If the trunk is slightly larger you cut the seal near where the trunk latch drops in the slot to latch the assembly and keep it closed shorten it up there You see where the factory seam is where it was put together cut that put it on the trunk get the pieces at the very end near the latch to overlap cut that until they just butt together You some windshield black glue sealant put on the end of the seal but it together let that dry maybe overnight good four or five hours uncompressed trunk up light off if it has one that will carry you to the next millennium believe it done it a million times You could even veer away from a Toyota trunk gasket and use one from a Nissan or a Subaru It is possible similar type of lip and design Good luck.

That's exactly it. OEM, new. Thanks!
