Replacement tires for 2013 Prius

Worth mentioning, being a level 5, that'd be in 215/45R17. It is 17" you have? That's excellent mpg for the bigger/wider wheels.

I'll have to do the same thing, sometime, though it seems like our OEM Michelin Pilot HX mxm4 just keep going, and going. I've actually toyed with getting the same when the time comes.

If you plug in your vehicle on Michelin it'll say Premier A/S, as first choice, and Primacy A/S as an alternative. I'm leaning towards Primacy right now (ask me tomorrow, different answer, lol), for a couple of reasons: they apparently roll a little easier, and they have the rim guard. OTOH, the Premier is supposed to best it for stopping distance in the wet, especially as both tires wear down. The Premier excels at consistent stopping and traction when worn. And then there's the Pilot: much maligned by reviewers, but I do not know, maybe I just don't know better, but ours are fine, decent rolling resistance, even wear. Getting a little noisier would be my only negative comment.

My only other consideration is Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 Plus. It's purportedly good for rolling resistance, a decent tire, one of the OEM's on the 4th gen Prius. Good price too. It's still on my list, but I'm a little dismayed by reports of variations of tread pattern, wear index and country of origin. It seems like Bridgestone has little control over their product.

Maybe some other responders will cover Continental. It seems hard to get up here, so I just don't pay much attention.

What have you got now btw? And how are they?

I believe no energy saver in 215/45R17, the 17" size on Prius.

 

They do have a 215/50R17 in the energy saver, but not sure if it will fit without rubbing...

 

just got my energy savers, what a great experience! ordered from tire rack yesterday. $110. each plus $50. shipping. had them sent to my local mech. he called today, said they were in. i took the car over and two hours later i picked it up. $120. for installation.
tires are so quiet, i can't believe it. i don't know if they're that much quieter than the oem's, or if the oem's were getting noisier as they wore down.
haven't had them over 45 mph yet, but so far, so good.

 

Nah, I wouldn't shift Outside Diameter significantly, to access a certain tire. One doable option would be 205/50R17. I emailed Michelin once, asking about 215/45R17 possibility; they said not in the cards, suggested Premier A/S.

That is often the case, a lot of tires get noisier as they wear, very gradually. Then when you get new...

What did you have before? Be interested in your impressions re rolling resistance and mpg, old vs new. But no Energy Saver's for me.

 

my mech couldn't get the energy savers, and tried to push the premiers on me as well.

 

I've been happy with the Premiers I put on my 2010. I run them at 42-40 and get the sane gas mileage as before after a slight initial drop.
