Hello, I am trying to replace the MG2 on my 2002 Prius. I have to lower the Engine to get access to MG2. I have already lowered suspension member (sitting on ground with rack on top of it but still connected on sides), removed the torque rod and moved the inverter enough to get access to the LH engine mounting nut. My plan is to start lowering the engine from LH side to get access to MG2 without removing anything else. Is this going to work or should I remove more things? Thanks
These might help you as it is a visual. One is a video, the other has lots of pics TomK Prius 1st gen - Replacing an MG2 (electric motor)
Hi Tom, Thank you for the reply. I have seen both. If you look at the beginning of the video the transmission doesn't look leveled (also there is just one jack). That is why it seems one could reach MG2 by lowering just on side. They also don't charge for antifreeze and bleeding the inverter so I knew there is way to reach the LH nut to lower the engine without removing the inverter and sure enough there is. I just want to make sure I am not attempting the impossible.
Good Luck! And be sure to report what you end up as a solution so it can help someone else that runs into this as it seems there is a lack of info for your efforts. TomK
