I removed my wheel covers today and did the cheap electrical box knock out cover trick as center caps. Others have done this on the regular Prius.

However, the v takes 2" caps, not 1 1/2 like the others. I wanted to mention this to save someone else a second trip to the big box home improvement store.

I painted them and cleared them. The paint is not an exact match but it looks much better than the pictures. I still may get some Toyota or Prius stickers to put on them, just not sure.

    Cheers.

This is the first time I have seen the 16 inch wheels, they look good. Now, why do we change the center caps?

I think it's cool how Toyota hides all those different—and good looking—wheels behind a number of odd wheel cover designs.

Those look great! And now that these cars have four wheel discs, there's something to see behind them.

I didn't change them. The cars come with wheel covers over the aluminum ones so there are no center caps from the factory. I wanted to remove the covers because the aluminum wheels look much better, therefore I needed center caps. This cheap fix fit the bill.

The regular wheels look fine to my eye. Why does Toyota hide them behind the plastic covers in the first place?

Maybe it helps in reselling - many scratch wheels on curbs. Dealer just pops on a new cover or two to resell car.

I must be getting old. Plastic wheel covers are fine by me, except for pulling them off to wash the wheels, ah kind of a pain.

I will take off the cover on mine if I could find the center caps.

Maybe to help with airflow and reduce drag? Better mpg's?

My son (the US Marine Corporal) sells the center caps on eBay as a hobby to suppplement his income... it pays for his car insurance and also adds to gas money between our home and the base! He has a 2012 Prius II in gray.

    eBay auction # 290445034453

they are the center caps from a Prius with 17" wheels, will fit any II or III wagon too. They look fantastic on a regular Prius II, III, or IV as well.

Would look very good on wagons... check the three pics there on eBay.

    Dianne,
Thank you for your post. Do you know if these will fit the Prius v as opposed to the standard Prius?
    Thanks.

I am 99.9% certain but I gotta say, I am a little busy this morning (LOL, PHEV orders start in 23 minutes!) so I will make 100% certain later today. My parts guys said YES to the Prius V package and all the regular Prii .. and the wagons have the same size hole when the wheel covers are popped off.

    :)

wheel insert caps for the Prius v wagon

    OK, we nailed it.

try this ebay auction # 290636825476

My son (a US Marine for three years) has been selling the center caps for the regular Gen 3 hatchbacks on eBay as a hobby to supplement his income... it helps to pay for his car and also adds to gas money between our home and the base! He has a 2010 Prius II in gray.

We determined what would suit the Prius v wagons and have a photo there of a wagon's alloy wheel with the plastic wheel cover removed, and the cap inserted instead. .. check the three pics there on eBay.

i took mine off and added some plastic wheel caps for a corolla from ebay..
the guy at the dealer said Toyota invested more than a million into reserch for the wheel covers and found that over the long term it gave them 2-3% more MPG..

The wife says "leave it alone, I like it just the way it is".
So that's what I'm going to do.
