    Hello everyone,

I have just bought a first generation Prius. I love everything about it. Before I begin, I have looked for similar topics, but didn't have any luck, so sorry if there is already a post about this.

I have had one minor issue as I bought it used: The rear right speaker has all the sudden started making a noise as if it was blown out. So I looked through the rear window on a sunny day so I could see if anything was visibly on the speaker. I found that both the rear speakers on the parcel tray have glass in them, most likely the rear window or something that had been shattered at one time. The rattling sound I was hearing was from the glass shard bouncing on the speaker when music played. I temporarily alleviated the problem by changing the fader to front speakers only, but would like to reclaim the rear speakers.

My thought is if I can get the grills off of the rear speakers, I can vacuum out the glass and the problem is solved. Unfortunately it seems as though these grills use some sort of crazy pins that make it seemingly impossible to remove.

Any suggestions? Has anyone taken a grill off to replace the speaker cone itself perhaps?

    Thanks!
