I have a 2010 Prius III with the solar sunroof that I picked up yesterday and I'm a bit confused with the solar venting versus remote A/C. (The sales lady didn't really know AND I was in a huge hurry to get home to my kid to bed).

Before I ask a bunch of dumb questions, is there a FAQ?

If not, I'm a bit confused on the difference between the remote A/C and the solar panel powered venting.

The solar ventilation will run along as there is enough sun to power the blower motor. It will start venting 10 minutes after you power off the car. The Solar vent switch is to the left of the steering wheel on the dash. The vents will pull in outside air to help keep the interior cooler.

The remote A/C will run for up to 3 minutes depending on the state of charge of your battery. You can run this before you enter the car to help cool the cabin. Hopefully this will answer your questions.

If I may, I'd like to tack on another simple question...
For the solar ventilation, aside from the fans blowing air INTO the cabin, is there or isn't there a fan sucking air OUT of the cabin?

I thought I remember reading a while back that it might exhaust the cabin air through the hybrid battery's ventilation system, located on the side of the rear seat...?

Or is it simply just fresh air being blown into the car, without blowing anything out?

it blows air in and opens the vents to let it out the back

.. to clairify... every car has vents. the prius has two vents. one is used to help the batteries, and the other is used for general pressure regulations inside the cab.

as the fans blow in, the exhausted air passes out those vents in the rear of the car.
