    I need your help ya’ll..

After doing an oil change last week following everything else I had done, I went to double check the oil level just now. Only to discover that somehow the cover to the relay box disappeared. It was there when I did the oil change, and it was there and secure two days ago when I looked around. It looks like some relays may be missing? and I need to buy another cover as the one that was there is completely mia. I looked around everywhere accessible in the engine bay. This makes no sense. The clips are fine and all I had done was remove the 10 mm bolts to move it out of the way when I changed spark plugs. I just drove her and everything seems to be working ok, but I’m scratching my head on this one.

I attached a picture so you can see what I’m talking about. Anything missing inside? Where can I order new cover? (Calling junk yards tomorrow) ..and am I ok driving it until I get a new cover?

    This is so bizarre...

    Thank you!

I just checked My 2008 Prius and you have all the relays in place that mine does. It looks like the one relay missing is if an individual has daylight running lights which mine doesn't and apparently yours doesn't either. I looked for the part number on my cover but it didn't have one stamped on it. I think you would be fine driving your vehicle in this condition. One suggestion I would have would be to wrap the top of the relay case with plastic to prevent water entry until you get a new top.

Thank you for looking for me! I was pretty sure that all relays were in tact, but better to ask than assume.

I’m going to start with checking salvage tomorrow and then go for dealership. I found 1 on ebay, but I think I can find one for less.

That happens alot. As long as you keep the moisture out you're fine. You could even wrap it with a piece of plastic for free.

Apparently it does.. no local salvage yards has one. Waiting for a call back from a place that’s an hour and a half away. The dealership wants $55 for just the cover and would have it tomorrow. There’s one on ebay that wouldn’t arrive for a week. They want $40. Plastic sounds like an option, but would rather have the cover.

Found one.. $10 and he threw in 3 relays just in case I ever need them. The poor donor was beat to hell and just about completely stripped down.

You're lucky to find one at all anymore. I saw there was a new one at the junkyard one day online and by the time I got there it was already stripped.

For what the parts are running now theres money to be made on a junkyard prius now that they're charging uniform prices for all vehicles.

They told me that most salvage priuses are now being exported due to the high value overseas where gas prices can be much higher.

It was really hard to find one at all. I called about 10 places. I got really lucky for sure!
