My friend is buying a Volkswagen Passat (In the USA I think it is a CC whatever that means)

It has regenerative braking, but not like the Prius.

Does anyone know how it works.????

Likely decouples alternator from the engine most of the time and only charges when decelerating.

It maybe the one that BMW is touting on some of their cars.

It charges the 12V battery thus gaining 1 or 2 mpg (which may not seem like much but every bit helps on a regular car).
