This morning I was trying to get to an 8am dentist appt on time while the freeway and boulevards were clogged with automobiles, most of which had one occupant, each tailpipe spewing steamy vapor in the 45F air.

An easy way to greatly reduce gasoline usage, GHG and unclog the roadways .... carpooling for goodness sakes!

The pessimist in me says, how much do you think the oil, car and insurance companies, etc, want commuters to carpool? Not much.

Carpooling might be a bit inconvenient, but gosh, more of it would solve at least two problems - our bloated use of gasoline and crowded urban roads.

For our 19 mile commute, a co-worker and I carpool most every day. We alternate back & forth between the gen II Prius and the EV. So, half of the carepool times - no steamy vapor, and no tailpipe.
    :p
