2004 146,967 miles P3000-123 B2799-539 P0A80 Battery SoC 29.5% Block V03 showing as lowest at 14.00V C1310 Battery has been unstable, in that couple of days it's been charging quickly or dropping from green bars to red just after driving off from standing. For me it is a $400 fix. I just get it rebuilt by a local mechanic. Junkyards sell them for around $500 here and it takes 2 hours to put in so that is a 2nd cheap option. Toyota sells them for around $1700 so that is where it starts to become pricey. So you are looking at $400 to $2000-ish. I'd go on craigslist and Facebook Marketplace and type in keywords like "prius", "hybrid", "hybrid battery", etc., and see if you can get it rebuilt for cheap...But that's just me, the guy I use does a great job, not sure about others.
If the car's in otherwise good shape, I recommend a new battery (assuming it's actually bad). It might also be in the wiring harness. Cheap fix if that's all it is. Many dealerships sell new batteries over the counter, but not all do. Lots of threads here & Youtube videos available about that. Cheapest way is to rebuild it by putting in old, but not yet failed, cells to work with the existing old but not yet failed cells in your battery. As you might guess, this is a very temporary fix.
Yea... More diagnostics is needed, but if you're lucky you can just replace a badly corroded voltage sensing wire frame for $50. But being a 2004, it'd probably be better to replace whole pack and drive the car for another 10 years without issues.
I've had the car for 6 years, done oil changes every 6 months. Changed the brakes all around, and changed the transaxle fluid. It's had a "new" AC compressor and proper new condenser back in May this year. So we've bonded I guess I'm going to have to check eBay for a low mileage HV battery. There's never been anything in the local area, I don't think I'll be able to get together the needed equipment for just a block, or blocks exchange. At 150,000 miles the car is well worth a New replacement pack from Toyota. Cost about $2500 (less if you can get it wholesale.) You can replace it in less than a day. You'll be back on the road and never have to think about it again.
You've tried the nationwide junkyard database car-part.com? Unless you live in the middle of nowhere there should be dozens of yards within a 1 hour driving radius.
