I value your opinions this is a great community. So the only things that have been done on this vehicle are the head gaskets, EGR cleaning, and spark plugs. Obvious things like oil changes have been done every 5000. What is your opinion on transmission service, battery balance, coolant changes for the inverter, replacing water pumps. The car has 190,000 on it. All of the above cost money obviously but what would be a priority that I should do? Probably the transmission service? Or is it too late?
never too late for the tranny fluid. other fluids i follow the schedule. preemptive strikes on pumps is a philosophical thing, i wait until they start making a noise or quit. not always the most convenient times though, i suppose. battery balance is a funny one. there isn't any data that i know of, so again, philosophical? some people swear by it, others ignore and rebuild/replace when the time comes. you might want to check/clean the battery cooling system, and even take a look inside the battery for corrosion. and stay on top of the egr circuit, it isn't a one time thing. what about the 12 volt?
Thank you Bisco. 12 volt battery is a 2015. It is testing good but I am going to replace it for preventative maintenance. How often do you think the EGR should be done about every 50,000 or 75,000? The high voltage battery looks good I pulled the covers off and looked at the terminals they all look good. I was really surprised.
50K sounds good. I'd second @bisco's "never too late". I'd consider changing both. Just a little chauvinism: is it Classic Silver Metallic? Love ours; looks great with matching colour 17" rims.
I agree, that 6-year old 12-volt battery needs replacing. Sounds like you're doing a great job keeping her going, kudos!!!
