Wife was backing out car in garage with rear door/hood open (moving furniture)....the spoiler caught the door and slightly popped it off its hinges (still on my car though). Before I take to a body shop or toyota, it feels like it can just be popped back into the hingest/grooves (i can see them on the ends), but I dont want to break it by pushing down too hard. Anyone have any ideas on this topic and how to fix? It looks fine normal (just barely popped out of 1-2 hingest probably), but can rattle more than normal over bumps. I am in S Cali (Manhattan Beach to Irvine). I can pay someone local to fix if they are savy on this. THanks
Reports of damge to the rear spoiler have come up repeatedly. The cause is typically contact with a garage door. So, if it is any consolation, you are not alone. The all-plastic spoiler is held on by four metal clips with additional plastic ones at the ends. Depending on how the spoiler was struck, the metal clips can tear out the holes in the spoiler, which then cannot be reseated firmly. To get access to the clips also requires removing 1 or 2 interior body panels and maybe the rear wiper motor. At any rate, here are two threads that go through the removal/ installation process. The first is for the Gen II. The second is for the Gen III, but may be useful for its clear pictures: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-main-forum/75968-how-remove-replace-spoiler.html http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...363-gen-iii-spoiler-removal-w-photos-how.html Hope this helps.
