Rear Hatch Beeper

But, but, ... how would you know the hatch is open?

 

I too would like to know how to disable the hatch-open beeper temporarily. I sometimes carry stuff home with hatch open, just a few miles.
I have looked for a switch, including on the latch mechanism, and have not seen any switch that I can tape over for the occasion.

 

Your answer is in the attached thread. The latch will basically close on anything, so just stick something round in there and let it latch on it, like a thick key chain. I can actually stick my finger in the hole and close the latch w/o it gripping anything. Just press the hatch handle to release.

I'd be a little worried about carbon monoxide from the exhaust circling back and entering through the open hatch. CO is bad, and can kill you! Granted, it's probably not a problem here, just be careful.

 

The Prius makes very little CO so for short journeys it shouldn't be an issue.
To reduce the amount of exhaust gas entering the car through an open hatch keep the windows closed and the vent open with the fan on high.
