Wife stopped and the guy behind her didn't stop. She is alright, surprisingly feels fine today.

I am actually worried the car will be totaled. Rear doors will not open. Hatch very difficult to close. Hitch pushed down about 3 inches. She was able to drive it home, and it charges fine.

Right after it happened a voice came on and said "Impact detected" and connect her to a person through SOS who sent her location to CHP. That was very nice to have.

    Did airbags deploy?

I'm guessing there is no chance that this is totaled. They'll fix it right up.

But do check to see if you can get diminished value compensation from your insurance due to the decreased resale value.

Nope, no airbags went off. She was pushed into a truck in front of her which punched a hole in the front bumper, but no bags.

Seems like most are saying its not totaled. I hope not. PiPa with a Rav4 EV is the perfect combo for our family.

Really sucks that just 6 days ago I paid $300 to have the rear bumper repaired from a gash.

If this is the worse that happens all year, it will be a great year. Very satisfied with how the Prius dispersed the impact and kept the wife safe.

It is good to see the PHV battery protected from such impact.

Bah, I hope it isn't totaled. I put a lot of work into that thing. Hell, I have almost $600 in tint on it.

I am glad your wife is safe. The car can be fixed or replaced.

    It is just a car.

Be thankful the car did what it was suppose to do. It protected your wife.

Sorry to hear this, but glad your wife is OK. BTW, you blanked out your license in the rear shot, but it shows in the front picture. ;)

I think I'm more in this camp TBH - it's hard to tell without seeing more detail, but that's clearly a really big impact and some major structural damage has occurred.

Glad no people were damaged, which is the main thing.

Is the sheet metal in the doors crumpled as well or is that a reflection illusion?

    I'm voting totalled (sorry).

I lean towards bielinsk's concern. The car has been struck from the front and the rear. The frame/unibody may be warped. The crumple zones may have begun to crumple. They are one time use and I think they'd be awful to fix. I'm also wondering if all four wheels are still properly aligned with one another. All of these are deep structural concerns. These are not the sort of things you can just swap out like a bumper.
