My beloved 2004 Prius with 190,000 miles is currently at the dealer to replace the stuts and rear brakes. When I brought it in it also had the abs light on as well as the dashboard brake light. The dealer says that the rear cylinders need to be replaced. I hadn't seen postings in the forums about this and wondered how common this was.

I assume that you are referring to the rear wheel brake cylinders. Considering your car has logged 190K miles it would be reasonable to replace or rebuild the cylinders to avoid a future brake fluid leak.
