    OK:

Call me a dumb blonde (enough others do!). But I have had this car for 9 months and I have a ready light question.

I'd try the manual first, but I took it out of the car to let the mice urine evaporate and I can't find it....it's around somewhere tho....

So, am I crazy, or what. I don't remember the Ready light staying on the whole time I drive, but maybe it did??

It does now tho....So that's what's supposed to happen right? The Ready light just stays lit....

If so, it's stupid, because I am already driving and am way past ready.

    you don't remember well ;-)
the ready light stays on whenever the car is drivable (ready).
If ready is not lit then you cannot drive it...

If you wait long enough the "set" and "go" lights come on too, but only after the guy behind you blows his horn

    Hi Kristi,

Mice urine is the best excuse that I've seen for not having the owner's manual around... :p

The READY light will come on and stay on when Prius is ready to be driven. If the light did not exist, then when the gasoline engine is not running, the Prius driver might be confused regarding the car's readiness to be driven: is the car READY, or has it stalled?

Here is something fun to try: When you are driving down the road, (preferably when there isn't any traffic) press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds. The Ready light will go off.

Sounds like a cool fact...but what does it do when the Read Light is off this way?
Will this screw the HSD? :D

It shuts down the hybrid system and shifts to N. Power status is ACC. You coast to a stop and then put your foot on the brake pedal and push Power again to get back to Ready.

No, because the car will not go very far. It's "OFF".

So to continue on you have to place the O N / O F F switch back in the O N position, indicated by "Ready". ;)

BTW, you have to actually stop and perform the startup procedure for this. And of course dogfriend beat me to it. :)

The car doesn't know whether you are ready or not. It is trying to tell you that it is ready. :D
