I got the hood release cable off to remove the LH lower dash (where the mirror adjust cluster is), and I am struggling getting the hood release cable T-end onto the handle... HOW do I get the cable back on ??

    thanks

Unfortunately, I'm having the same problem, and the response above doesn't actually help.

Any hints? the cable just pops out of the slot before I have a chance to get the cylinder in place. Maybe I just don't remember the exact detail of how it popped out...

I just took a look at my setup, and it appears to be sort of a standard cable pull arrangement with ball ends retained in slots. Like hand brakes on a bicycle. I suspect that with the hood closed there may be some unruly tension at the release lever inside the car. You might try releasing the other end of the cable at the hood release mechanism, which should give you sufficient cable to work with inside the car.

I solved it. It's actually NOT the reverse of how I got it off.

To get it on: FIRST get the cylindrical button back in place where it belongs (top of the photo). Then, stretch the cable as needed to slide it into the slot (bottom of photo) and seat the sheath end in the white plastic socket (also at bottom.)

(The way I got it off: pulled the release, held the wire in "stretched" position, released the button, then detached the cable from the socket.)
