I'm getting my 2006 pkg 7 Prius today. I'd like to upgrade my cell phones while I'm at it and I like the Motorola RAZR phones. But should I go with the Cingular RAZR V3 or the Verizon RAZR V3c? Just reading this forum I see complaints that Verizon makes you pay for things your phone should be able to do for free, so I don't like that, but apparently the V3c phone has a better camera: 1.3 megapixels vesus 0.3 for the V3. I'm open to going with either cell network - any advice?

I may not have the same preferences as you, but I think camera in phones all stink and I would not base my purchase on that feature. Verizon has locked out the ability to send contacts to your Prius phone book, and the ability to send and receive files to your home computer. Plus the Cingular system is GSM, which means you can use the phone worldwide. I have no axe to grind, but I can't imaging going with Verizon unless Cingular's coverage really sucks in your area!

I have the razr with cingular and have no problems at all...you just have to make sure the car is set up to read each individual phone...i ,at least, have to enter the phone book one entry at a time, though...which i think a lot a people had to do...

I've had great luck with my RAZR through Cingular... so much so that I opted for the unlimited data feature (no time commitment required!) last month. Now I have Bluetooth in the Prius and wireless internet service (dialup speed) everywhere I go.

    Hi John,

Do you get callerid through your Prius MFD when using the RAZR? Mine only shows something like "incoming call", but not the number (or name). Also I've noticed that the phone battery level indicator does not work on the MFD.

Was the car in motion at the time that the calls came in? The Caller ID feature is disabled unless the car is at a standstill. Take a look at your incoming calls log. If the numbers are listed, your caller ID is working as designed.

Heh, of course the time I want the callerID to work the most *is* while I'm driving - that way I can ignore calls that are probably not important. The fewer calls I answer when in motion, the safer everyone is! *rolls eyes at Toyota engineers*

I have Verizon and had to enter all the info in my phone book- no biggie though. I am not a fan of Verizon but got caught in a contract. The RAZR does sync up with the car pretty well though. I wish there was a way to take a private call though when you are in the car. Is there? If I have someone in my car and dont want them to hear my conversation- how do I do that? If flip open my phone- the mic still pic it up.

Thanks for all the help! I did get the RAZR with Cingular and it hooks up just fine via Bluetooth to the Prius. But it seems to be only able to transfer one address book entry at a time - and even then, after transferring one, it then says "Bluetooth busy" when I try to do another. So I have to enter them each by hand using the MFD on the Prius.

I have another car on which I had the aftermarket Parrot Bluetooth interface installed. The Parrot automatically syncs up with the phonebook of whatever paired phone is in the car. Much nicer!
