While I was stopped at a light today, my radio randomly reset itself. The speakers popped, and the radio turned off. When I turned it back on, I found that my presets had been cleared. Everything else seems fine though.

When I first got the car about 3 months ago, the presets randomly cleared themselves while it was parked overnight. I didn't think anything of it at the time.

    Any ideas?

I'm in Australia. Base model prius with Fujitsu Ten AM/FM unit installed. I also experienced similar problem, where using bluetooth phone connection the radio presets would re-set themselves to stronger AM stations. This happened every time the phone was used to make a call or answer one.

This scenario occurred whilst in regional area and still with presets set and listening to distance Metropolitan AM station. The presets would re-set to stronger and local regional stations. On return to metropolitan area where initial presets were at their strongest signal, no issue, could not replicate the issue. Fujitsu Service Centre fully scratching their heads with no idea as to how this could occur, given the promlem could be replicated then there is no problem.

Not a solution or explanation and really not satisfactory. I'm sure they think I was imaginging it.

we have 5 priuses 2010 gen3, III. myself, parents, inlaws, sister, and brother in law!! -yeah we could make a commercial :)

    my problem is as follow:
On 2 of them i also have experienced similar radio problems. randomly the memory of the preset stations would be lost and reset it self to the original factory setting. ( all the stations including satellite, FM am. What is more interesting is that the radio setting ie... treble, base, mid, and ASL is preserved and not lost. this has happened multiple time on my car. i am wondering do i have a bad unit or a design flaw in the radio? it has also happened on my mom's car. don't know about the other vehicles.

this happens very randomly as in the 1 year of owning it, it has occurred 5 times. one instance i remember occurred while I changed the track on mp3 disc and the system turned off instantly. turning it back on , i found all the memory erased. this is a big pain reprogramming all the sat and FM stations.

please share if you are also experiencing something similar. If this is a design flaw, i don't think changing out the head unit will help.

This happened to me yesterday, on my 2010 II. I was playing an MP3 CD at the time. The speakers popped and the radio turned off. When I turned it back on, it was reset to factory defaults.

I have a 2008 base model Prius which I purchased used with very low mileage. What I have noticed in this car, is not that it erases my set stations, but that it will suddenly switch to a different one of my presets. It will also jump from FM to AM. Any ideas?

You're posting in the wrong area. The stereos in the 3rd gen Priuses (2010+ model years) are COMPLETELY different than the ones in the 2nd gens.
