ok well now i know the limits. :) so, i ran out of gas, i had a spare tank with me so i got to where i was going with out having to call anyone. but, the check engine light came on. it stayed on for a day and a half too. then today it didnt come on. is this something i should worry about? i drove maybe 50 feet after the light forst came on thinking that since i was going up a hill that the fuel left in the tank had just tipped to the back and would go back to the engine. but then i pulled over. board, please advise me. thanks. :)

Don't worry about it. Next time buy gas when the little "buy gas" reminder starts flashing.

I've done the same thing, only w/o the spare gas can. Boy did I hear it from my SO that day! Oh well, lesson learned, and now I know. I had all the check-idiot-lights-red- triangle warnings, etc. go away after filling at the nearest station and driving about 15 minutes. No issues after another 10,000 miles, except with the SO, ha, ha.

Remember, capacity IS affected by temp. I now know if it's below 40 degrees F, the range after the blinky bar starts is around 40 miles, if warmer (like 70+ F), it's closer to 70 miles. This is when the MPG screen shows around 46 or so. Your mileage may vary. My new rule of thumb is when the last bar starts blinking, I get gas the following day (about 15 miles or so).

I ran out of gas a few weeks ago with 4 people in the car and believed I could get all the way home from where I was. (Dope) Imagine my surprise when it just coughed off in the driving rain and the dash lit up like I was at a drag race. At that time my battery level always seemed to stay pretty high, but now the car was running on battery only and I limped over to a gas station with two pink bars blinking. 100 yards or so I think. It had never been that low before, and I sat there with my friends in front of the pump with my freshly made brick. Filled up and started fine, no warning lights, nothing. What I do notice now is that the battery seems to become depleted easily now, and also charges up pretty quickly, but no longer seems to stay above the half like it used to do. I even came home from the N GA mountains down this windy, curvy road which actually charged the battery to completely green, all bars. Then it went away again after use. Does the heat or the AC deplete the battery more quickly in general or have I toasted all the newness out of my battery? It has about 5k on it.[font=Comic Sans MS:f1da5bac83][/font:f1da5bac83]
