Had wife call me to say no heater while on a run up the mountains late one night (30 F) I check the codes and nothing. But I see white stuff all over the fuse box and inverter top. Oh no the radiator is busted and all the coolant is gone. Order a replacement from Ebay (never a good idea) and when it arrives it looks iffy from the start, twisted and saggy in the middle. Will need new cap - thats ok and never a bad idea. So working on the ground it took 5 hours to complete the job and modifications to get it to fit. I have 7 bolts and screws/clips left over from the job. Cars back on the road for now. Had to modify the top brackets and slip the a/c condenser forward (the radiator too fat) Now the next issue is to replace the overflow tank (on order) as it is blocked with the goo we used to keep the car on the road for work while we waited for a free day to fix it.
How much was that one. Looking here: Radiator & Components for 2008 Toyota Prius | Toyota Parts Toyota replacement is $177 plus shipping. Assuming you're in the States, where is "Surprise"? Attachment is from Repair Manual.
That’s the scary part. You should really flush the whole system now. That stuff can cause bad problems in the future if it’s just left there.
