One of the things I love about my Prius is how quiet it is and not just in ev mode.
However I have found myself driving some distance with my indicator still on as the 'click is so quiet I am unaware it has not cancelled.
    Has anyone else found this?
Probably someone is going to tell me you can adjusts the volume on it!
I still love my Prius though.

I've never noticed a problem with it.

Do the other beeps etc work (like putting in reverse, opening the door if it's still running etc)? Has it been like this since new?

I think it's more of an observation rather than a complaint.

True - I was wondering if all the beeps have gone quiet/silent - or if the car was bought used, if someone has maybe "quietened" the beeper.

Flick it on, flick it off. I don't think I have ever traveled down the road with the blinker on. The "click" used to be an actual relay and a byproduct of the switching of the light bulb on and off through the mechanical relay. Now in the Prius that's super quiet but they add sounds to make it sound older and louder. When I drive the DeLorean all the "clicks" come from behind the passenger seat, which also kind of throws you off. The blinker light turns on the dash infront of you and a click comes from behind the passenger seat.

I found my indicators quiet too. You can adjust the volume with Carista (which is the route I took), or any authorised Toyota dealer.

Maybe it's the air in Cheshire??? Glad you like your Prius, though! I've certainly taken for mine.

i can't hear mine. partial hearing loss. my wife is constantly telling me to turn the blinker off after going around a corner less than 90 degrees that doesn't turn it off automatically.

for most people, it's not a problem because signaling a turn around these parts is fairly rare.

My Institute of Advanced Driving instructor once told me that "the only reliable information your get from an indicator is that the bulb is working". So true!

Wish I had a quid (£) for every time I've turned my car off, then tried to pull away. Well, it all seemed very quiet as per normal. Anybody else own up to this, or is it just me?

Just you ... :). That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

[only remember doing it once - had a passenger in, it was in ACCESSORY mode because I'd been showing him a bit about the car - I think I successfully turned it OFF instead of, what I though would be to go ACCESSORY -> START. But what I'd done was turn it OFF - no wonder it wouldn't go into "D".]

    Just you :p
I must admit though I have turned it off after momentarily getting out with it in ready mode then getting back in.

AARP gives these scanning tips. They forgot one, though.
    • Looking at least a block ahead (city driving) or a quarter-mile ahead (suburban or rural driving)
    • Glancing slightly to the left and right of the roadway to look for approaching danger from cross streets, or animals or children darting into the roadway
    • Checking your rearview and side view mirrors every five to eight seconds
    • Turning to look over either shoulder to check your blind spots, especially before changing lanes
Another important area to check about every 5-10 seconds is the instrument cluster. It's how you know if you're speeding, if your oil pressure or check engine light is on, or if you left the turn signal on. ;)

Oh, and I would modify the first scan to say to check 2-3 seconds ahead as well as about 12 seconds ahead.

    I resemble that.

I wish they put turn signal and high beam indicators in the roof pillar at eye height and a speaker near your left ear for the clicking sound.
