I currently own a 2008 Honda Accord, and plan on buying a 2010 Prius in late June. Since I have never owned a Toyota with the navigation package, I wanted to know if you can watch movies on it. Before my Honda I had an Infiniti, and the navigation had a built in hard drive which allowed me to watch movies, either directly from the hard drive or by burning it on a dvd disc. Will this be possible on the 2010 Prius?

    Thank you.

Even if it's possible, it's illegal in many (most?) states.

not to throw this thread off topic, but I do have one question about the 2010 prius, is the rear floor flat? meaning that there is no "hump" on the floor in front of the middle seat? sorry I looked, but couldn't find an answer.

    Nearly flat. There's a 0.5 inch hump.

No. Only the Lexus models with the Mark Levinson system come with a DVD-Changer.

As you can see, it's only the luxury cars that can play DVDs.

Yes there is but it is much lower now. You mean the foot area for the rear middle passenger right? It is about 1/4 of the current model's height.

Back to the topic... if you want to watch movies, get a portable player :)

Sorry, I must have not been clear. My question was if I could watch movies on the navigation screen while the car is in the park gear.

There are aftermarket products that will allow you to do that for the CG Prius. And I'm sure they'll be developed eventually for the NG Prius as well. Keep an eye on Coastaletech.com and their lock-pick products.

Still no. You'll need a 3rd party application (e.g. a video converter) to plug into the screen and then a 3rd source (e.g. DVD player or playstation) plugged into said video converter.

thanks I was looking at some interior photos and in some I think i see the hump, but it others it looks like there isn't one.:focus: yeah there are third party solutions, but if a cop catches you watching a dvd (some states even while sitting still) he might be able to impound your car (the way some states have their laws written that any screen within the drivers view can not show motion pictures, that's not information on the car) because that makes your car not street legal.
