As you can see, I have a 2008 and am thinking about buying a 2010, but not getting rid of 2008.
Is the nav any better than the 2008? I don't think my 2008 is as good as a Garmin Nuvi, but I like the convenience.
I have the latest disc for the 2008. It's got a lot more sites, but I don't see an upgrade in function.

Also, I'm confused on the packaging. I want the sunroof, Nav.?, 17" wheels, and foglights, leather, but I'm not sure this is possible. I haven't gone to my "friendly" dealer. Actually, they have been very easy for me to work with, but I wanted to see what's doable.:)
My inclination is to wait till the hysteria subsides and do this next spring/summer.
    Just curious right now!
    Thanks,
    Fred

You can't get a V, which has the 17 inch wheels, with a sunroof.

    Fred,
In other words... get a IV since you want the sunroof, then just add 17" wheels yourself!
Only the V comes from the factory with 17" wheels and foglights... both are things that you can easily add yourself, if the sunroof is more important to you. I am planning to do this.
I'd much rather get a sunroof from a factory, then get wheels and foglights from the factory, but have to deal with an aftermarket sunroof.

I agree, the IV is my best way to go, but do the fogs get installed from the dealer? The wheels aren't as important as the fogs. I still don't understand why you can't order a car the way you want, if you're willing towait for delivery.
Again, it will be a IV for me, but I think I'll wait till late spring. Maybe there will be some updates. I understand there is a major up date for ipod come September.

What exactly do you mean by that?

I don't see it as a "major update." It's the release of the accessory USB iPod controller that works with the NAV system.

Ahh. I remember reading that it wasn't coming until September, but I thought it was coming standard with the navigation units after September.

Will it always be in option only thing, or will it come standard with nav?

So you're telling me it isn't available now?
I was just about to call the dealership and add that as an accessory to install at port when my car arrives next week. :/

From what I've seen it's an accessory, will not be standard with the NAV, and is scheduled to be released for sale in September. With the Bluetooth music streaming and voice control with my iPhone, I have no interest in adding it to my car.

There is an accessory non-USB version that's available now that disables the use of XM Radio when it's installled.

Until they release a 75+ gb iPhone, then I need my iPod in my car.
I've seen the one pictured on toyota.com, where it says it conflicts with the satellite radio or whatever...
And I've heard that they're supposed to release them in September...

However, I seem to remember several people on here saying that they already got it... that their dealer had them or something like that.

I'm curious if whatever is "releasing in September" is the same thing or not... and how much it will cost.

I love my iPod and hate using CDs nowadays.
I have one of the FM transmitters, which works well, but I'd rather have the control be through the stereo itself.

    Any info would be appreciated...

I haven't checked it out recently, but my dealer told me it was going to be part of the Nav system on those units coming around September. I could be misinformed and will try and find out what the skinny is.
To me, it would be major because otherwise I can envision it as a costly upgrade. Also, it would give you great control over your ipod. I use a Nano in my '08, but with the current hook-up, it's not easily controlled. Maybe I'm not using it right.
