    HeyHey,

Long time lurker, first time poster....anyway....

I'm taking delivery on my 2nd Prius (Hopefully) Thurs/Fri of this week. I'm giving my current Black #4 to my Wife, and taking delivery of a Silver Pine Mica #7. Question is: I've never seen one driving around with that color. Seen plenty of most other colors (except mag grey), but never seen a 'green' one. Are these less popular or what?! Just curious!

    Thanks!

I rented before buying and the rental was SPM. It is a great color. I would have been very happy to get it. I gave the dealer a choice of colors and ended up with classic silver which I also really like. I received many positive comments on the color when driving the SPM. Congrats on the car!

We have the Silver Pine Mica. The dealer told me that is a hard color to get. Most people will take another color instead of waiting for the Silver Pine Mica to come in. Well, I waited and I am not sorry I did. We love the color and you will too. The first thing people say when they see my car is what a beautiful color that is. Even some men have said that. I had to compromise on the interior color. I wanted the grey but had to take the bisque and I wasn't going to chage the outside color. lol Enjoy your new car and let me know what you think of the color.

I do not think that the color is less popular. It may be rare because fewer are produced. I have seen a couple. Enjoy being green. :)

    B) Hi !! and Congrats on the SPM Prius !! We ordered ours and it came in last Friday, so we havn't even had it a week yet, but we really LOVE the silver pine mica !! We actually wanted the Bisque, but settled for the grey interior, and i'm probably very glad now that we got grey. The exterior color was more important to us than the interior, and I think the grey will show dirt less than the bisque. The bisque is cool as it is the color on the SPM Prius in the 2006 Toyota Brochures.

Anyway, ours is a package #5 and we're not even half way through our first tank of gas yet, and have over 150 miles on the car!! Dang, how cool is that?!!!!

No matter the color, enjoy the ride !!!! (I just love the feeling of freedom [from gas prices]) !!

    later..... :D :D

Prius brochure has the SIlver Pine Mica, the Rav4 and Avalon actually come in the same color. It is very elegant, Looks more like silver from a distance, but as you get closer you will see a hint of silvery green

That was my first choice too, but while I was waiting for hell to freeze over coincident with its arrival, I found a white one available immediately and lowered my standards. ;)

I think you made a good decision and glad you could get your choice. Enjoy!

Mine is SPM, I like it. The other fun part of it is that you'll see 2 or 3 red's a day, 2 or 3 blacks, a white here or there, but in Chicagoland in the 5 months since I've had my spm, I've only seen 1 other spm, and only 1 time.

It was tempting for me to purchase, but I had to just go with Silver. It is kind of boring being that this would be my 5th Silver car, but the Mag Gray I would have jumped on immediately. Silver just seems "safe" in terms of resale and likeability. I had a friend that was stuck with an off-white color for a couple of months and that kind of scared me bit.

I'm waiting for my Silver Pine Mica #4 to arrive. I saw one driving down the street outside my office a week before I ordered mine and knew I wanted that color. Then my friend called me 4 hours after I placed my order to tell me he just saw the green Prius and that I had to get that color - I got to tell him he was too late!

    Hi to all,

I'm new to the group, as well as new to Prius ownership as of 7/17/06 with a'06 SPM with package 8, gray
    leather.

It is the color we wanted, as we have been considering a Prius for +/- a year....finally stepped to to the plate & purchased after we saw the SPM in the flesh; just a wonderful color, as well as a great subliminal message to all- a green green car!

As to our experience so far, our indicated mileage is 57.3 mpg, with about 95 miles on the odometer.
I've owned diesel MBenz for years, haing put over 500,000 miles on 2 MB diesels, and don't mind accelerating slowly, or keeping in the slow lane. I feel our mileage should improve once we increase our tire pressure, and the engine is broken in.

    Regards,

    Jon

I was waiting for 7 weeks for a silver pine mica. I finally gave up when he called me with a blue one and I took that. Longo Toyota in Los Angeles, which is the largest Toyota dealer in the country and gets about 200 Prius a month was telling me there was a 12 week wait from the time of order to delivery for a Silver Pine. Any other color they could get me within 10 days. It turns out that the silver pine was originally only 3% of the color allocations. Due to the high demand, it has recently been moved up to 8%. So don't be surprised if you start seeing more of the greenies on the road soon.

I will say that the thing that's wierd about the silver pine mica color is that it looks different in different types of light, and it looks different when it's coming at you vs. when you are behind it. From behind, I think it's the best Prius color. From the front...it looks much more green to me than silver, which is not something I prefer. In the back of my mind I was worried that I would get sick of the green, so I ended up going blue.

This is just my personal preference and opinion, and I guess I'm in the minority, but I really dislike the silver pine mica. It looks like it would work well as a VW Beetle color, or some other car with a built in flower holder. At certain angles and lighting conditions it almost looks like lime green. I got a call from my dealer a few months ago telling me my 06 silver had arrived. It turns out that the car was actually a silver pine mica ... I was not happy. The sales guy worked hard to swap it for ANY other color, but nobody else was willing to trade. I ended up finding a Silver at another dealer instead.

I took my 2nd choice of Classic Siver, that was 4 weeks ago and still no Pine Mica's have arrived at my dealer in any PKG. If you can wait then wait because in another year these cars will be all over the place and at least your Siver Pine will be a little different.

Silver Pine Mica is a new color for 2006, so you don't see too many. My wife and I originally put money down to order a SPM, but after seeing it on an Avalon we felt it was a little too loud of a color, and changed the order to silver. But, the few I have seen since then don't seem quite a bright green, which makes me wonder if the Avalon the dealer showed us really was SPM. Its really not too bad, IMHO.

You might be in the minority but you're definitely not alone. My boyfriend said he saw the color and thought it was yuck. I hadn't seen it so wasn't sure. It looked kind of neat in pictures. Finally, I did see one at the dealer. I just can't decide whether I like it or not. I like that it's different and it's not really too green, but at the same time, it's one of those colors that could strike one as being a little nauseating if you are suffering from a bit of a hangover or anything. So, I'm glad I didn't get that color.

Incidentally, I saw a pre-hatchback Prius in a green. That was a much brighter light green (close to the Volkswagon Beetle lime green) and I didn't like it at all.

I'm not crazy about the classic silver that I have because it's so common and it's so pale that in some lights it almost looks white. The light color doesn't sparkle at all. But it's innocuous and I don't know of anybody that really dislikes the color itself.

I have seen one or two here in south Florida. From the brochure I was seriously considering the SPM. When I saw it at the dealership I wasnt' sure.. From some angles it really looked good, and from others not so for my eye. I decided on the magnetic gray. I liked the metallic look to it. I'm putting on metallic silver pinstriping, so it should look pretty good. The bottom line, if you like it, go for it...

    Congrats!

I have a silver pine mica and love the color. It has more character than a silver, and I liked that it wasn't that common.
