I test drove another Gen 5 Prius and also test drove a Corolla Cross hybrid again. Interesting that this time the CCH didn’t have the headrest at an uncomfortable angle. The CCH was so quiet when in electric mode. The Prius had a very slight revving sound while in electric mode right from the start. I know the newer Prius generations have a built in sound to alert pedestrians. Does this sound stay on the entire time one is in electric mode? It was annoying but I’m sure I’ll get used to it. Much more noticeable after driving the CCH. Maybe the CCH has better sound deadening components? Don’t they both have the same hybrid system? Thanks I also found out that the QC hold on my Prius involves two additional Prius shipments that arrived after 12/18. They are looking into doing a swap with another dealership.
Thanks. I’m sure I’ll get used to it. My 2009 sounded like a robot when I purchased it. Now I don’t hear any of it.
The US rule was finalized in 2022 so all Hybrids and, I assume, EVs have a similar sound. I notice it sometimes on my 2025 Camry. When I had my 2017 Prius, coworkers would sometimes refer to it as my spaceship. LOL
It's better to have it on especially when you are backing up from a parking space; you want to make sure that other people can hear and notice you.
