Qualcomm buys a Prius

    QUALCOMM Blue Goes Green - New Environmentally Friendly Shuttle

     
    In an effort to reduce emissions and better it's fuel efficiency, the QUALCOMM Shuttle Team has added the Toyota Prius to its pool of service vehicles.  The Prius is a hybrid gas/electric sedan that comfortably seats four and gets 60 miles per gallon in the city. 
    'We are extremely proud of this effort and see it as a huge step toward cutting back on fuel consumption while improving overall efficiency,' stated Larry Jordan senior manager of facilities. 
    The response to the team's recent switch to an on-call style of service has been tremendous with ridership doubling over the past few months.   However, the absence of the set schedule has also led to fewer large groups utilizing the service, greatly reducing the need to operate large multi-passenger vans.  These dramatic changes prompted this move to smaller more economical and environmentally friendly vehicles. According to shuttle driver Frank Rojas, “feedback from those who use the shuttle has been very positive.â€
    Current plans are in place to add additional hybrid vehicles into service within the next fiscal year.  'We anticipate putting this vehicle to good use and invite everyone to use the shuttle service and test ride our New Toyota Prius,' says Larry
