I recently got a 2017 prius but i have absolutely no use for the Qi charger in the center console. I have an iPhone 7+ and I just find it unnecessary to buy a case specific for this charger. Plus with the iPhone 7, any case compatible with this Qi charger will have something connecting into the phone's charging port, which doubles as the headphone jack. so i would be stuck connecting and disconnecting things each time i get in the car. I am perfectly content with my apple leather case and don't mind charging with a cable.
I was thinking about getting some sort of tray to cover it so i can use it to quickly set other things down such as loose change from a drive thru or whatever. I want something that could protect the surface because while i am not interested in using the charger, i would like to protect the glossy finish from unnecessary wear. Has anyone figured out a solution for this or found something they would like to share?

I found this on eBay and am tempted to buy it, but i am a little hesitant because of the price tag. Just wanted to see if there were cheaper alternatives.
    Thanks!

You could do a DIY deal with some fabric of your choice. I've also looked at that tray and I like it.

I have also thought about something like that, but anything i make would not look as nice lol. I could've sworn i saw a rubber insert sometime last week when i was googling options, but i can't find that anymore. I don't even know what i typed when it first came up.

I've just got a small piece of non-slip fabric sitting in the bottom - I've a collection of things which sit there now - USB sticks, Proximity swipe etc - and you can barely see the fabric.

Do you mind posting a picture? Would love to see it just to get an idea of the fabric. Where did you buy it?

I have the official leather Prius mat in your link and it really finishes off the console a treat

I am also looking for a solution to this issue; I have a Pixel XL and not only does it not have wireless charging, it also doesn't fit on the charging pad. So even if I got an add on charging coil or a mophie power pack, it still won't charge. I'd like to figure out a way to make this space useful, ideally by putting a phone mount in the space. The problem is, no mount that I've found will suction to the charging pad. Anyone found a non-permanent solution? I'm assuming I will keep the car longer than the phone so I don't want to damage the pad in case another phone is compatible.

I do like the "official" leather mat but don't know if it would really solve my problem. I'd like to be able to glance at my phone for navigation from time to time (don't get me started on how much I hate Toyota navigation).

Meh, just live with it. All the new iPhones have wireless charging and someday you will have to upgrade your phone. Wireless charging is so convenient.
