I just bought a ‘21 Prius Prime. Over the past month, I noticed small bubbles in the plastic at the bottom of the tray. It looked like plastic melting but I never smelled anything. I charged my phone on it and never had an issue.

When i took it into the dealer, they had never heard of this being a problem and i had t explain it several times before they took it back to look at.

When they came back it was clear that they were minimizing the issue, but the service tech said don’t use it or turn it on, and they ordered a replacement for the tray and surrounding plastic.

Long and short, my assumption is that there was a short in the wiring and they’re replacing the charger and surrounding plastic.

I don’t want to make a bit deal. Just posting in case others have had this issue.
