Kinda new to this TPMS thing. i'm planning on changing my wheels and tires in a few weeks and i wanted to keep the stock wheels since there are times that i travel a lot on the road and at least i have a choice to put in the stock wheels again. my question is, i need to purchase a set of tpms sensors for the new wheelset, what kind do i need to buy? is there a specific brand for toyota or aftermarket tpms sensors that are compatible with the ones that are installed in prius'?

You don't HAVE to buy another set of TPMS. You can only have 1 set programmed into the car at any given time, so even if each set of wheels has their own, you'd have to reprogram the ECU each time so that it recognizes which ones are installed. Another option, you might be able to find a shop that has the EZ Sensor, which can be programmed to match the IDs on the existing sensors. This should allow you to swap anytime you want with any issue. You may as well put the current ones on the wheels you plan to run the most, and deal with looking at the dash light when you put the other set on.
