i just want to see a 300 mile bev with prius or better like space. preferably a cuv style because they are popular and should sell fairly well.
the price point will need to be around 30k, after fed credits to capture a decent amount of the driving public.

what we don't need is more 50k bev's. sure they'll sell some, but its not gonna impact climate change

Wander over to Raleigh, NC waiting room | Page 28 | Tesla Motors Club and read of the experiences people are having with the no-dealership model. I know Tesla is a startup and has growing pains and all that. But it sure doesn't satisfy at the only sales office and delivery location in my state yet. Maybe later.

 

Chinese can make beautiful looking cars but
I have yet to see a reliable Chinese car and no doubt this one will be a turd as well just like the last out of business Chinese company.

All malls but 3 are slowly going out of business in our state.

The strongest regional mall in my home town lost all their anchor stores this last spring.

I picked my Model 3 at the Raleigh sales office with exceptional service. I will take this over a typical dealership any day.

There are a lot of horror stories on the Tesla forums, but like most forums, including this one, what you hear most are those with problems. You do not hear very often about the success stories.

 

One doesn't need a dealer to BUY a car, but rather for those very rare occasions that the car needs to be worked on.
I just checked.
My nearest three Tesla service centers (according to their website) are in Houston, Hotlanta, and Nashville.
For those persons who are geographically challenged, those are three cities in separate AND mostly non neighboring states.

...and this is Tesla.

This is something that I've been trying to explain to the EVangelists in the forum.
Parts and Service are a key portion of the ownership experience - even for people (like me) who DIY whenever and wherever they can.

If the nearest service center is two states away, and if you have to mail order parts then the vehicle might as well have a 0-mile new car warranty.
Big T has earned a seat at the OEM conference table (now they gotta KEEP it!)
More EVs are on the way, and probably from places like China, VeetNam, and India.....BUT(!!!) they're going to face the same headwinds with logistics and infrastructure as Tesla is currently dealing with.

Now that he's out of the 100 billion dollar club, and he has a lot more free time on his hands maybe Jeff Bezos can help.

 

no question that sales and service centers, like charging infrastructure, need to be and are increasing. but rome wasn't built in a day.
while tesla doesn't meet our needs yet, they are lightyears ahead of the competition

 

Nope....but it sure BURNED in a day!


With gas at $1.71 a gallon and the nearest Superduper Charger station more than 25 miles away and EV's still costing more than $40K after TTL...........even Tesla is still light-years away from mere mortals in flyover country.

By the time that early adopters pay off all of the development costs and EVs reach their potential of being CHEAPER TO MAKE than (for now) conventional cars, the charging and service infrastructures will have reached a level of maturity that will make them a viable option.

 

Funny that when you search safercar.gov, iihs.org or transportation.gov websites the only hits for "Byton" are a trucking company on a "Byton Ct" in Maryland.

I notice the car in the video is lacking a few bits of federally-mandated safety equipment.
