    Hello,

Anyone know PROLONG® BATTERY CHARGER for Rent?

This device only need for 2-3days to discharge and recharge, why paying $350-$450 for using once a year.

Can you purchase the harness separately? Or reverse engineer it? Seems like participants would need to have harness in place for this to be practical.

The harness was expensive.... But if a few people were close and someone had one they could
possibly share it with others if they bought the harness and installed it.
    For a fee of course.

Maybe interested pc’rs in the same city, do a group purchase: one charger, and 5~10 harnesses??

I’m not that sure I’m interested; just floating an idea.

I'd pay for a service that came to my house, hooked up the device, and left it here for a couple days. I'd have to manage the cycles myself, perhaps with a phone consult.

I was already considering purchasing the Prolong. If I knew there were people in the San Antonio / Austin area who would be interested in such a service, I'd probably pull the trigger sooner and give it a whirl.

I ordered mine, it will be here Monday.
The gen3 harness is $150. You only have to pull the top of the battery housing off to install it.
But you have to remove all the trim in the back to get to it. Looks like about an hour to an hour
    and a half hours work.
I'll be cleaning the fan and housing and duck from the intake also while I have it apart.

Did you buy it new? The entire system with charger/discharger/harness?

I was considering ordering one. However, now that we have a Prius C and a Prius v wagon, apparently you need different units for each vehicle! I think it has to do with the number of battery modules, etc... NOT cost effective to buy an entire set twice. (y)

I bought the whole system. Charger/Discharger/WireHarness. The automatic one.
So once the harness is installed, I just start it up and walk away. More or less.

I think the difference is the harness. The charger/discharger is the same. You'd have to read the info
    on the site.

    It shows 3 different onces.
    2010-2015 Prius
    2012-2016 Prius C (Auqa)
    2012-2016 Prius V

So you should call them and ask what you need.

I wish that were true...but it's not. Unfortunately, the chargers and discharger units are different as well. In fact, there is a sticker on each unit that tells you the specific models it works with. In fact, there is a listing up on Ebay right now where the person acquired the incorrect charger AND discharger.

    For instance : Capture.JPG Capture.JPG

Okay, that's the discharger, what about the charger???
I just ordered the one for mine. I didn't even notice the other two until I just looked
    and put it up here.

Okay, learned something new today. (y)
I do believe one of them has a different battery, and possibly a different voltage in the "V",
    more cells?
Maybe pick the one for the oldest battery?
Is either of them having problems?
Or if you know someone in your area that has a V, or C, if they buy the system, you can get the other
one and the harness for your other car and rent there system.
