I just bought a 2004 Prius with only one remote. The car does not have SKS capability and I am shopping for another used fob. I see that mine has the black logo on the back, and it appears that the ones I see with silver logos are for SKS. If this is correct, can either type be programmed for a non-SKS vehicle, or only the black ones? The existing one does have to be inserted to start the car. Can someone help me with my options? Thanks.

From what I have read, either should work in a non-SKS car, if reprogrammed. Certainly the SKS fob with a dead battery still starts the car by inserting in the slot, so that aspect is the same in both situations. Search for "chicken dance" for many threads on this. Most people have problems getting the SKS functionality to work with a used silver logo fob, but the insertion works OK.
